Utilising a trauma-informed, client-centred, and strengths-based approach, sessions are tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals and groups.

Together, we work to connect with your inner voice, wisdom, and light—developing a positive sense of self and celebrating all that you are. We explore your experiences to help you identify your strengths and uncover your unique gifts.

What is it?

Art Therapy and Wellness sessions give you the opportunity to express yourself, let-go, allow for inner self expression and communication, without necessarily needing to use words. This gives you the opportunity to connect with deeper parts of yourself and your inner voice, and express your emotions and feelings and help with your thoughts.

Sessions are available for groups or individuals and variety of ages (7 years +), tailored to meet your unique and individual needs.

Creative Arts Therapy utilises art, music and movement in a therapeutic setting as the tools to help you build strengths and resources and heal.

Do I need to be artistic?

Not at all. Creative Arts Therapy emphasises the process of creation rather than the final product. Art and/or music are used as a tool to help you express yourself, finding meaning and alternate ways of communication. No prior skill is required.

+ Art Therapy

ART THERAPY sessions use a variety of materials and techniques including pencils, pastels, paint, clay, plasticine, musical instruments, collage, different objects, and other craft materials, to aid in the process of expression, resource and skill building, and healing.

The emphasis of being able to cognitively communicate (such as in talking therapies) is taken away, instead the art making process is the focus, to be able to check-in with what is happening on the inside, and allow your inner voice to communicate, allowing for deeper meaning and connection.

Sessions can be one-off, although consecutive sessions are recommended for deeper healing and positive change.

+ Guided Drawing

GUIDED DRAWING is a bodywork art therapy modality. It is a process of allowing your hands and body to map out what is going on for you and then apply the healing movement and colour that you require. I will guide and support you as you use pastels and/or paint on paper while expression, healing and growth occur.

A beautiful process that client's have said can feel like achieving months of therapy in one session!

+ Clay Field

CLAY FIELD is a sensorimotor art therapy approach where clay is used inside a wooden box. As touch is an important human experience and is connected to kinaesthetic motor action and sensory perception, the hands working in the clay can have “lasting therapeutic benefits, especially in cases of developmental delays and trauma healing.” (Trauma Healing at the Clay Field – A Sensorimotor Art Therapy Approach by Cornelia Elbrecht).

I will support you to follow the impulses of your hands as you explore what you need, without any expectations of needing to know what to do, allowing your body and hands to process, build strengths resources, balance and heal. The box is a representation of your world and the clay the elements within ready to be explored, shaped, changed and adapted to meet your needs without a finished product to take home, instead new body memories are created.

+ Mindfulness Connection

Elements of mindfulness and guided meditation are often used to help set the tone and intent of the art making activity within a session.

Mindfulness can also be a solo focus in session to assist with wellness and support anxiety and stress.

+ DRUMBEAT

DRUMBEAT is evidence-based social and emotional learning program and an acronym for Discovering Relationships Using Music, Beliefs, Emotions, Attitudes, and Thoughts. This program primarily uses hand drumming together with behavioural therapeutic principles, games and cognitive discussion enabling real change and achieving positive outcomes.

DRUMBEAT is a group based program. I am able to provide an adapted form for individual sessions.

MUSIC PLAY - As part of the creative arts, music can be used in individual sessions just like art-making, to build skills, communicate and as a form of expression and exploration.

+ Workshops

Throughout the year a variety workshops will be offered both online and in-person.

Workshops are generally comprised of a specific theme, and will contain mindfulness, art-making and discussion elements.

Workshops can be created and delivered upon request – contact me to discuss your needs.
