Open
Bring forth that which you wish to remain hidden for here are the opportunities for true growth and acceptance.

The artwork I am highlighting today is called ‘Open’ and was a part of my exhibition INSPIRATION from WITHIN.  It is one of the largest artworks I have done to date and is currently hanging on the walls of Cafe four2eight on Sturt Street in Ballarat.

Accompanying message Open:

Bring forth that which you wish to remain hidden for here are the opportunities for true growth and acceptance.

Sharing my wisdom:

Do not be afraid, be open and look within, to open and lay bare your fears, your worries and what you perceive to be your weaknesses.

This can be hard and often your first reaction will be to ignore or become distracted (this has certainly happened to me!) when trying to address the darker parts of going within.

It is important to try and bring forth that which you wish to remain hidden as the more you have pushed it down the more it is likely draining you.

Lately I have noticed I have been going to food a lot for comfort, knowing there is a cause for this, there is something coming to the surface that I am trying to distract myself from addressing.  This time it is something that is taking more out of me to address than some of the other issues I have been working through.
I believe it is to do with fears of the past resurfacing in regards to my health and my ability to cope surrounding my home life.  At this time I am still moving through it, it will take time, I have often lapsed and gone to food for comfort, I know I will progress and move through this, I have faith in myself and I am also recognising that it is ok to take the time to work through it (probably not so healthy to hit as much ice-cream and chocolate as I have, but one step at a time!!!).  I am determined not to fall into old patterns of negative self-talk and instead remain positive and continue to believe in myself.

Take some time to open to your fears, your worries or your weaknesses.  Be gentle with yourself, give yourself the gift of acceptance, of courage to look within and be open to all that may come to the surface.  Do not judge, allow yourself to move through and past that which surfaces.
